As I told you in my first article we are new homeowners and this is the first spring while living in our dream house. Setting up the interior has been a massive task we’ve been tackling the entire time since moving in. We have settled in by now and are very happy with the upgrade from a one bedroom apartment in the city. But living in a house means that in addition to everything in the house you also have the entire garden to take care of. Sadly ours was far from pristine and there is still a lot of work to be done to transform it from a random dumping ground to the garden of my dreams.

I decided to get started last weekend and invited all of my extended family and some friends to help out. The weekend turned out to be very successful. We cleaned up all of the trash and building materials from the grounds, distributed new soil where needed and I made my first flower bed! I can’t even explain the satisfaction of planting something and watching it grow! Every time I step out the house I see that first flower bed and remember that I created it. Amazing!

I don’t think I’ve ever been keen on gardening before but I think that changes for everyone once you have your own. I can’t tell you how excited I am to make more flower beds, plant new trees and get started on my herb garden. I’ve also found a perfect little greenhouse that’s going to be installed next weekend so we can start growing our own tomatoes, cucumbers and green leaves. It would be a massive waste not to grow our own food with the space we have. Finally I’ll know for sure where my food comes from and how it’s grown!

I will definitely keep you posted on the progress I’m making on the garden. In the meanwhile I’d be super grateful for some gardening tips and also ides on what else to grow in my greenhouse. Let me know in the comments!
